What we collectVol. III
What we collect, and what we do with it.
Short, because there is not much of it. The Closing Mark
is a publication. It needs an address to send you an issue, and a card if you
buy one. That is close to the whole story.
What we collect
Your email address. Given either on this site or through a
subscription form on Facebook or Instagram. It is the only thing required to
receive the free series.
Whether you place your own trades. If you subscribed
through a form that asked. It is used to decide whether to keep mailing you
and for nothing else.
What you have bought. Which series and whether you hold the
Implementation Kit, so the right issues are sent. Card details are entered on
Stripe's own checkout and never reach us; we hold a customer reference, not a
card number.
Delivery outcomes. Our email provider tells us when a
message bounced or was marked as spam. Both suppress the address permanently,
which is the point of recording them.
Which links were pressed. Links in the mail redirect
through our email provider, which records that one was followed before
sending you on. It is how we know whether an offer is worth making at all.
The unsubscribe link is exempt and goes straight through.
Site analytics. Aggregate page traffic through Google
Analytics, and advertising measurement through the Meta pixel, both of which
set cookies. Neither is joined to your subscription.
What we do not do
We do not sell, rent or trade your address. Not to anyone, at any price.
We do not send you other companies' offers.
We do not ask for, want, or have any way to see your brokerage account,
your holdings, your balances or your trades. Nothing on this site connects
to a brokerage.
We do not tailor an issue to you. Every subscriber to a series receives
the same signal at the same moment, which is both the product and the
reason there is nothing personal to profile.
We do not record whether you opened anything. No issue and no offer
carries a tracking pixel, an image or a web font, so an unread message
and a read one look identical to us.
Who else sees it
Only the services that make the thing work: Amazon Web Services, which hosts
the site and sends the mail; Stripe, which takes payment; Google Analytics and
Meta, for traffic and advertising measurement. Each sees only what its job
needs. We disclose nothing else, to anyone, unless the law requires it.
How long we keep it
While you are subscribed, and after you unsubscribe we keep the address on a
suppression list so that we do not mail you again by accident. That list is the
one thing deleting your record would break, which is why unsubscribing removes
you from the mail rather than from the file.
Ending it
Every issue carries a one-click unsubscribe and it works immediately, with no
conversation and no retention offer. To have your data deleted outright, or to
ask what we hold, write to
privacy@theclosingmark.com and
we will act on it.
Changes
If this notice changes materially, the change is announced in an issue rather
than made quietly to this page.
